About TheBarberBoard
TheBarberBoard is an independent UK site that helps you find a good barber and understand what you are paying for. It has plain-English guides to haircuts, prices and grooming kit, and city pages listing barbers we have checked are still trading. Liverpool is the first city. Nobody pays to be listed or to rank higher.
How we research
Everything on the site is desk research: we read, compare and check. We do not run a test lab, and we do not claim to have used every product we write about. Here is where the information comes from.
- Product guides. Picks are based on manufacturer specifications, what comes in the box, the cost of replacement blades and heads, what UK retailers stock, and the pattern in buyer reviews across several retailers. Each roundup says it was not lab-tested.
- Prices. We check prices on UK retailer and brand websites and print the date we checked them. We quote ranges across shops rather than one retailer's price, because prices move every week.
- Haircut prices. The price guides come from published price lists on barbers' own websites and their Booksy, Treatwell and Fresha pages. Each page says how many lists we read and when.
- Barber listings. A shop goes on a city page only if we find recent, dated evidence that it is trading, such as reviews from the last few weeks on its booking page or current prices on its own site. Each listing shows the date it was checked. Shops we cannot confirm are left out.
- Barbering advice. Guidance on cuts, guard numbers and aftercare reflects what barbers commonly publish and teach, summarised in general terms. It is not medical advice.
If a price has changed, a shop has closed or we have something wrong, tell us through the contact page and we will fix it and update the page date.
How we make money
- Affiliate commissions. Some product links go to Amazon UK. If you buy through one, TheBarberBoard may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Pages with these links say so near the top.
- Display advertising. We may show Google AdSense ads on guide pages. We do not use pop-ups or interstitials.
We do not charge barbers to be listed, charge them to rank higher, sell promotional spots dressed up as editorial, or take money to remove or change a listing. City pages do not rank shops against each other.
Who runs it
TheBarberBoard is run by a small UK editorial team. We are a niche site, not a national publication, and we keep the site focused on barbers and men's grooming in the UK.
